SALTSPRINGS, Pictou County - Leonard George MacKenzie, age 68, formerly of Saltsprings, Pictou County, passed away on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Halifax, Leonard was the son of the late George and Margaret (Mumford) MacKenzie.
Leonard was a resident of Saltsprings for 35 years. He was a retired teacher having taught most of his years at West Pictou District High School. Leonard was a member of the New Caledonia Masonic Lodge.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Tobey MacKenzie of Antigonish; a son, Colin (Catherine) MacKenzie of Calgary; step-granddaughter, Cassidy; his extended family, Michael MacIsaac of Antigonish, and Matthew MacIsaac of Halifax; an aunt, Mildred White of Dartmouth.
His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bill White officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
