It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Cecil Francis Maidment at the Stella Maris de Kent Hospital, Sainte-Anne de Kent on Thursday, March 3, 2011.
Born in Glace Bay, N.S. on February 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Gordon and Emma (Mercer) Maidment.
Cecil was a Korean War veteran and was also a factory worker in Scarborough, ON., for many years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Elmire ‘Emma’ (Cormier) Maidment; four children, Betty and Cecil Jr. both of Ajax, ON., Gordon (Diane) of Saint-Antoine, and Gary of Bouctouche, N.B.; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Joseph Maidment, and sisters Jean (Nickie) Madore and Joan Jewells, all of Glace Bay. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Cecil was predeceased by one sister, Betty and one brother Earl.
Visitation took place in Bouctouche on Monday, March 7, 2011 followed by the funeral service in the chapel of the Maillet Funeral Home.
