We, the family of the late Alex Bates, would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to our relatives, friends and neighbours for the love and support shown to us during this difficult time. We are most grateful for the food sent to our homes, the phone calls, the emails, the masses and enrolments, the sympathy cards, charitable donations, flowers, cemetery and monetary donations. Thank you to Fr.'s Patrick O'Neill and Tom Lathigee for celebrating the funeral liturgy. Thanks also to Fr.'s Paul MacGillivary, Conrad Edwards, Gussie MacLeod and Peter LeBlanc for prayers and Mass offerings. Thank you to Sr. Florence Annette for her prayers and visits to the hospital. To the organist and choir, readers, servers, pallbearers, gift bearers, the honour guard and the CWL for the lovely reception, a sincere thank you. Special thanks to Jim and Williamena for opening their home to us and the ladies who served the food. It was certainly appreciated. Thank you to Jimmy Price for opening and closing the grave. Thank you to the Bateston Athletic Club for their kindness and support. Special thanks to Dr. James MacKillop and Gail for your care and dedication to Alex for so many years. To the ER staff and the nursing staff of 4B at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, we thank you. Many tanks to the Home Care workers and the VON. Alex received special care from each and every one of you. To the EMS for the many trips to the Rehab in Halifax and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, thank you. Thank you to Sheldon, Wendy and Kirk at Chant's Funeral Home for your guidance, support and compassion. You made a difficult time more bearable. To our family, relatives, friends and neighbours who over the years have spent time with Alex at home, took him for drives and to outings. We are forever grateful. God Bless every one of you.
