David "Dutch" MacDonald

The family of David “Dutch” L. MacDonald, of Fredericton, NB announce his passing on March 24, 2011 at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was 77. Born in St. Johns Nfld, he was the son of the late Archie and Elizabeth (Pentecost) MacDonald. David was a member of St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church, a Chartered Member of three Kinsmen’s Clubs and a member of the Kinsmen’s Club since 1964 having held several different offices. He was Area Manager Post Master for 37 years in all four Atlantic Provinces. David played hockey for St. Bon’s in Newfoundland and was a referee for many years in the Senior “A” League. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years Shirley (Knee) MacDonald; children Robert (Linda) of Amherst, Michael (Karen) of Australia, Tracy MacDonald of Saint John; three grandchildren Jessica (Chris), Joel (Nadine) and Corey; brother John Archibald MacDonald (Marina) of Newfoundland; sister Ursla Curtis of South Africa; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Mary (Mickey) McGrath and great niece Amanda Bishop.
Visitation will be held Monday March 28, 2011 at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd from 7 to 9 PM. A mass to celebrate his life will be held at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church, on Tuesday March 29, 2011 at 12:05 with Father Gerry White officiating. Interment in at a later date.
