The death of George William Aker of Sussex, occurred at the Moncton Hospital on March 25, 2011 at the age of 71. Born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Cecil and Betty Aker. George is survived by his wife of 50 years Mary (Bartlett) Aker, their children; Sue Aker-Doney (Doug) of Sussex, Sherri (Mark) Bowser of Dieppe and Scott (Kim) Aker of Saint John, grandchildren; Brianne, Hayley, Delaney, Ethan, Jacob, Cole, Caleb, Tom, Trent, Carter and Sophie, sister-in-law Gwen (Mansel) Warren of Sydney Mines, niece and nephew Kim and Jason and special cousins Susan and Allison. George was predeceased by his sister Sandra Aker, stepfather Johnny Henderson and special aunt and uncle Emily and Jimmy Inch.
The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at St. Paul’s United Church, Sussex at 2:00PM with Rev. Scott Hillier officiating. Interment will be at Kirk Hill Cemetery.
