It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Polly Wadden, age 95, on May 27, 2017 at Ocean View Continuing Care Center, Eastern Passage.
Born January 27, 1922 at her home on Dominion St., Whitney Pier, Polly was the daughter of the late John James and Mary (Bench) Neville and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She spent all of her married life one street over on Matilda Street, until moving to Ocean View Continuing Care Center. For 68 years she was part of the Matilda Street community where she and her late husband Stanley lived in the house he built. Polly had a great sense of humour and loved children, playing bingo, darts, shopping, and spending time at the family bungalow in Red Islands. She loved her family dearly. She was a member of Holy Redeemer parish all her life.
Polly will be sadly missed by her son, Stan and his wife, Patricia, Dartmouth; daughter-in law, Anne Marie, Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Matthew (Joy), Lori (Daniel), Lisa (Jordan), Scott (Marie), Jeff, John (April), David (Tonya), and precious great grandchildren, Jackson, Leah Ellie, Claire, Callum, Vincent and Evelyn.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Stanley; son, Don; sisters, Yuba, Meltha, Ella and Annie; brothers, Carl, Joe, John, Ashie and Maurice.
The family would like to thank her extended family at Ocean View Continuing Care Center who took exceptional care of her over the last five and a half years.
According to Polly's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017, Father Paul Murphy officiating. A reception will be held following the service. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
