ROY HILES

Passed on: May 14th, 2017

It is with grateful hearts that we give thanks for the life of our Dad, Papa and Great-Papa, Roy Hiles. Dad was a true Prairie Son, born in Mortlach, Saskatchewan on February 13, 1925. He began his life-work young and took “farming” as truly being a Steward of God's great Creation. His work ethic was second to none and his honesty and integrity were exemplary. He gave from a generous heart for his family, his community and his country. He leaves his family as his greatest legacy, and we now carry his example in our hearts. Celebrating Roy's life, and honoured to call ourselves his family are: Son-Larry (Faye) Hiles and Grandson Chris Hiles, Son-Ken (Cheryl) Hiles and Grandsons Tyrone (Sherri) Hiles and Dylan Hiles (Shayla), and Daughter-Della (Del) Ferguson; Granddaughter Vanessa (Dustin) Heron and Great Grandchildren- Katie and Zack Heron and Grandson Gray (Leah) Ferguson; Sister-Helen Ellis, Sister-in-Law-Cathy MacPherson, and numerous Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews who were very precious to him. Dad was welcomed into heaven on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 11:10am by his Dad and Mama, Roland and Eva Hiles; his wife of 60 years, Jean; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Dot and Al, Gladys and Lester, Raymond, Don, Wes and Kaye, Cecile; and so many more precious family and friends. The reunion was sweet, of that we have no doubt. Dad would want to say a huge thank you to the friends that blessed his life: from Mortlach Community; Minto United Church; Timothy Eaton Senior Centre; Square Dancing; Dahlia Cres.; The Regency; The Mulberry; West Park Crossing; his many card tournaments, bowling, bus tours and most especially to his Vintage Aircraft Restoration Buddies. And, we as family want to say a HUGE thank you to Dr. Amanda Waldner! A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 11am at Jones Funeral Chapel. We would love to have you join us. And please... when you think of Dad, may he inspire you to pray as he prayed: "Lord, help us supply the needs of others." Dads life work is done.... and it was done SO well. “Thank you, Dad”. Memorial Donations can be made in Dad’s name to Heartland Hospice Moose Jaw. In living memory of Roy, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
