PERK, Satenik (Sukyasyan) – Truro, passed away peacefully June 3, 2017 at The Mira Long Term Care Centre at the age of 95. She was born in the historic city of Istanbul (also known as Constantinople) to Armenian parents, the late Bogos and Maryam “Ardem” Sukyasyan. After graduating from Arti Grtaran (School of Contemporary Education), she mastered in traditional skills including, homemaking, cooking, and supporting her family. In 1948, she married Kegam Perk. Together, they raised two children, Ara & Masis Perk and remained happily married for 47 years until she was widowed.

Mme. Satenik was a lifetime keen observer, a modest, kind and wise woman. She was strong enough to give up on her Turkish coffee at The Mira “cold turkey” but remained loyal to her beloved Armenian newspaper “Marmara” until the last light came in her eyes. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Ara Perk, P. Eng., NC, and Dr. Masis Perk, Truro, NS; her adoring grand daughters, Maral, Amber and Karin Perk; sister-in-law, Zuhal Sukyasyan; and by her loving friends and devoted caregivers at The Mira.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro where a funeral service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, June 8, 2017, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Interment will follow in Dayspring Cemetery, Lunenburg County. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
