SISTER THÉRÈSE PELLETIER
1923 – 2017
Sister Thérèse Pelletier (Sainte-Zita) of the Sisters of the Presentation, passed away on June 4, 2017 at the age of 94 years at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on June 8, 2017 at the Provincial House Chapel, 1405 Bishop Pascal Place, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. on June 9, 2017 at the Provincial House Chapel by Most Reverend Albert Thévenot, M. Afr., Bishop of Prince Albert. Interment to follow at South Hill Cemetery. Sister Thérèse is survived by the members of her Religious Congregation, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Joséphine (Soucy); five sisters, Germaine, Gabrielle, Jeanne, Irène and Adrienne; and four brothers, Donat, Georges, Guy and Raymond. Sister Thérèse Pelletier was born in Duck Lake, SK on March 23, 1923. She was the last child of a family of ten children. Being the youngest of the family, needless to say she was a bit spoiled. Sister Thérèse was very close to her immediate family and her nephews and nieces with whom she corresponded, especially in her retirement years. All of her schooling took place in the Stobart School in Duck Lake, SK with the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. In 1942 she answered the call to religious life and joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, where she found true happiness in the service of the Lord. On July 2, 1945 Sister Thérèse pronounced her first religious vows. In that same year she began her teaching career. Over a span of many years, she was an excellent Kindergarten teacher in Debden, Duck Lake and St. Paul’s School in Prince Albert, as well as in École Notre Dame, a French immersion school in North Battleford, SK. She spent many years teaching in Le Pas and St. Lazare, MB. She loved her students and they loved her in return. After her years of teaching, she took the service role of spiritual animator in Melfort, SK and in the Prince Albert Infirmary. On September 28, 2012, when her health began to decline, Sister Thérèse moved to the Infirmary as a patient. She will be remembered for her love of history; she remembered many details of the past and enjoyed relating her stories. Her contributions to the genealogy of her family and to the History Book of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary were very much appreciated. Sister Thérèse had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and was generous and sincere in her service of God. We rejoice that she now rests in the Love she believed in and so happily shared with all. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
