COALBURN – Carol Gene Hughes, 52, Coalburn, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by her family after a short illness.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Fred Hughes, MacLellan’s Brook and the late Mary (Patelakis) Hughes. Carol was employed as a crossing guard for 23 years and was a volunteer at the A.G. Baillie School and enjoyed knitting and doing crafts.
Surviving besides her father are sister, Marjorie MacKenzie, New Glasgow; brothers, Andy (Margie), New Glasgow; John (Jana), Vernon, B.C.; nephews, Anthony, Frederick, Michael, and Matthew; niece, Jane.
Carol was predeceased by her mother, Mary.
Donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. In honour of Carol’s wishes, the family will celebrate her life privately.
