Leroy J. Connolly

Born: October 7th, 1945

Passed on: June 6th, 2017

Leroy J. Connolly, a life long resident of Stephenville Crossing, NL, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2017 while visiting his children in Nova Scotia. Leroy will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara; his children Natasha (Corey) and Josh; grandchildren: Mackenzie, Brennan and Cameryn; sisters: Eva, Rona, Tina, Matilda and Norma; brothers: Ron, Lawrence and Jerome; as well as many nieces, nephews other family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Patricia and four brothers: Ralph, Harold, Joe and Teddy. Leroy was born in 1945, married the love of his life, and raised his family in Stephenville Crossing. He worked as a welder and spent most of his career with Western Construction, and most recently with IOC in Labrador. Leroy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, neighbour and friend. He enjoyed outdoor activities, whether it was roaming around the woods looking for wildlife, trying to catch a fish, picking berries, cutting wood for the winter or just out for a ride on his side by side, he was always up for an adventure. Leroy loved a good joke and was known to be a real prankster to anybody who knew him. He had a heart of gold and if you met him once, you had a friend for life. The thing, however, that brought him the most joy was spending time with his family. It didn't matter whether it was when camping, puttering around his garage, sharing a meal, or watching a movie, he loved being around his family. He always beamed with pride when he spoke about his children and grandchildren, and had a smile on his face when he was around them. He brightened the lives of everyone that knew him, and will be deeply missed, by his family and friends. Visitation will take place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Monday June 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. from Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing with Father Edmund Dantes officiating. Cremation will take place following the service at Humber Valley Crematorium with burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Bay St. George Sick Children's Foundation or to a charity of one's choice.
