WELLS, Paul Ervin - On Friday June 9, 2017 after 75 years Paul took rest under the “Strawberry Moon" surrounded by his loving family at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Paul was born January 8, 1942 in Yarmouth to the late Anita (Hanf) and James Wells. Paul started his working years as a teenager at Bill Carter's Esso on Main Street. He was a loom fixer and night foreman at the Dominion Textile Mill in Yarmouth and Cornwall, ON. He was a heavy equipment operator with Neil Duncanson, Donnie Hersey and Troy Pitman over the years. Paul was a long time snow plow operator at the Department of Highways. He was a contributing member of the Carleton Fire Department and Forest Glen Community Centre. In June 1963 he married Kathleen (Burton) and treasured nearly 54 years together raising their daughters; Beth Saulnier (Patrick) Pinkney's Point and Christina D'Eon (PJ) Pleasant Lake. Paul cherished children and held a special place in his heart as Grampy to Sarah and Riley. Paul loved Bluegrass music and could often be found tapping his toes and playing the “spoons” to a tune, hunting, fishing, reading a good western or having a yarn with a buddy at the Hideout were his favorite pastimes. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his sisters, Susan Wells, Bridgwater and Patsy Carnahan (Ron) Merlin, ON; little brother, Jack Wells (Martha) Chatham, ON; sister-in-law, Joyce Burton, Lake George; brother-in-law, James Allen, Carleton; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Heather in infancy and nephew Jason. As were his wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. There was a graveside service held Wednesday, June 14 at 1 pm at the Forest Glen Cemetery, Deacon Stephen Bourque officiated, with words from Kendrick Mood and Chris Crowell. Light refreshments followed at the Forest Glen Community Centre to celebrate Paul's life. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Forest Glen Community Centre, Forest Glen Cemetery Fund, or charity of choice.
