SPINNEY, Wayne Richard Leroy- It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wayne Spinney announce his peaceful passing on June 12th, 2017 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital where he was surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. Born in England on December 2nd, 1943 Wayne was the son of the late Reagh and Alicia (Atherton) Spinney. Wayne was a mechanic by trade and often referred to himself as a “Jack of all trades, master of none”. Later in life Wayne was a proprietor of several businesses and his last job was working for the water commission in the Town of Digby. A skilled woodworker Wayne could often be found in his workshop, he became well known at the farmers market for his “Wayne’s Walking Sticks”. Having a welcoming personality he made friends wherever he went and often said he never met a stranger as he knew everyone. Wayne loved his kids and family dearly as well as Cooper. He is survived by his wife Sheryl; daughters, Shelley (Andrew) Inwood and Sherri (Stephen) Bell; stepdaughter Jennifer (Tracey) LeBlanc and stepson Steve (Crystal) Joudrey; grandchildren Hannah, Sebastian, Sapphire, Logan, Haley and chosen granddaughter Avalon Budd; two brothers and four sisters. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Faith Spinney. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation or service by family request. There will be a private family memorial at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund or charity of choice. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Drs. and Nurses of Digby General Hospital, Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Dickson Centre in Halifax, Yarmouth V.O.N., Wayne’s buddy Dr. Joe Gillis and family and friends for their help during Wayne’s sickness.
