Cecelia Dominica Marusiak

Cecelia Dominica Marusiak of Sydney, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Salvador and Frances (Lyons) Mizzi.
Cecelia worked at Gallery Shoes, then Sparkies Windows, and finished off her working years with Archie Nathanson’s in the shoe department. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier.
Cecelia is survived by her son, John (Freda), Whitney Pier; daughters, Brenda (Murdock) McRae, Albert Bridge and Janet Marusiak, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Linda (Allie) MacIsaac, New Waterford; grandchildren, Carol Ann Marusiak, Laurie (Kris) Tynski, M.J. (Courtney) McRae, Colin McRae, Kathy (Sheldon) Kuervers, Sherri (Richard) McNeil, Warren Marusiak and Melanie Marusiak, and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Jessica, Kayla, Madisyn, Courtney, Myles, Zoe, Mya, Elizabeth and Brianna.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; sons, Brian and Stanley Warren, and grandson, Brian Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, sisters, Eileen Baldwin, Margaret Mizzi, Mary Ferguson, Melita Newton, Ester Melache and Rita Coleman, and brothers, George Mizzi and Edward Mizzi.
Visitation will take place Tuesday June 20, 2017 at Sydney Memorial Chapel from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Mass for Shut Ins.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of 4A at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, to Judy at My Cape Breton Home, Rev. Patrick O’Neil and Rev. Paul Murphy for their blessings and comfort to mom, and Donn MacCara Close family friend and Piper.
