BRIAN EDWARD HUBLEY

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved brother, Brian Edward Hubley. Brian passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, surrounded by family, in the An Cala unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a two year bout with cancer. He was 61 years old.
Brian was predeceased by his father, Raymond Hubley and his mother, Thelma (MacLean) Hubley.
He is survived by a younger brother, Bruce Hubley (Georgina and a niece and nephew); and his beloved sister, Nancy.
Brian was a graduate of Saint Francis Xavier University in 1977. He was an avid chess player and photographer. In his working career, Brian was a kitchen designer for the last 30 years. For a time, he was the local president of the Cape Breton Home Builders Association and eventually, became provincial president of the Nova Scotia Home Builders Association. Brian was a loyal Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He didn’t believe in being a “fair weather fan” and stuck with his teams through good times and bad. He often quoted, “there is always next year!”
A funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, 49 Welton St., Sydney on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating. Interment to follow in Alfred Smith Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
