Kathleen MacIntyre

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen MacIntyre, age 93, of Louisbourg on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a short illness. Kathleen was born on March 25, 1924 to parents Henry and Ellen Walton in Sheffield, England. She was the first of five siblings, followed by Harry (Josephine), Margaret (Stan), Brian (Mary) and Pat (Roger). She met and married her late husband Charles and immigrated to Canada where they went on to have four children, the first of which passed away in infancy; Charleen, Robert (Leona), Karen (Bill) and Ian who lived with his Mom and shared a special bond. Kathleen has five grandchildren; Deanna, Geoff (Jacqueline), Denise (Steve), Angela (Marc) and Charlene (Jack), and five great-grandchildren; Clayton, Justin, Heather, Meela and Zachary. She will also be lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews. Kathleen worked for many years at National Sea Products in Louisbourg while working very hard and raising her three children that she loved very dearly. She had many hobbies including playing bingo, reading, knitting and going to the casino. She was a faithful member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch 62 and the Fortress Seniors Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends and also enjoyed meeting with her war bride friends on a weekly basis. She loved to travel and enjoyed many visits from her family in England; Sharon, Bill, Angela, Daniel and Martin.
She will be remembered for her kindness to others, and we will surely miss our Queen of England. Cremation has taken place, visitation will be held on Tuesday June 27, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with celebration of life to follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
