Raymond St. Clair Hiltz, age 87 of Little Harbour, Pictou County passed away suddenly on June 22, 2017 at home. Born in La Have, NS he was a son of the late Earl and Alma (Zinck) Hiltz.
Ray worked for many years at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Chemical Oceanography.
He was an active member of the Little Harbour Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board of Managers for many years.
He was a member of Albion Masonic Lodge No. 5 AF &AM where he served as Past Master, member of Mount Lebanon No. 14 of Royal Arch Masons where he was Past High Priest, a member of Perceptory Knights Templar , member of the Pictou County Shrine Club and Philae Shriners. He was also a member of the Orient Council #5 Royal and Select Masters , a member of Royal William Conclave #32.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Doris (Fraser); sisters Joan (Don) Beattie, Bridgewater; Bette Anne (Jack) Nielsen, St. John, NB; brother Wayne (Muriel) Hiltz, Newcombville, NS; nieces Annette (Ross) Little, Oxford; Angela (Terry) Cormier; St. John, NB; brother -in-law Barrie (Rhoda Jean) Fraser, Halifax and nephews Graham Fraser, Halifax and Alexander Fraser, London, Ontario.
He was predeceased by a sister Brenda Himmelman and a brother Douglas in infancy.
The Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, June 27th in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 28th in the Little Harbour Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lorne MacLeod officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Lorne St. Cemetery, New Glasgow.
