Frederick "Fred" Grant Kuhn

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Halifax Infirmary, on Friday June 23, 2017 of Frederick "Fred" Grant Kuhn of Ellerslie aged 74, beloved husband of Jean (McLaughlin). Fred was born on April 25 1943, in Dartmouth, N.S., son of the late Bernard and Barbara (Boutlier) Kuhn. Fred, with his wife Jean, started and operated the Tyne Valley Drug Mart from 1979 until his retirement in 2008, and was a longtime volunteer and supporter of his community. Loving Father to Paul, Iqaluit, Nunavut; Juanita Millar, Ellerslie, and Tim (Carlene), Bideford. Loving Grandfather to Jessica (Aaron) DeCoste Miscouche and step Grandfather to Chelsea Millar (Trevor Smith) Port Hill; Carl (Rachel) Morgan, Miscouche and Heather (Corby) Washburn, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Fred is also survived by brothers Jim, St. Thomas, O.N.; Dan (Maria), Columbia; Donald, St. Thomas, O.N. and Harry, London, O.N. Sisters Jean (Murray) Reid, Halifax, N.S.; Olive (Dave) Cavanaugh, New Glasgow, NS, and Agnes (Keith) Rendell, Eastern Passage, N.S. Also brothers-in-law Don Romkey, NS; Murrray (Lori) McLaughlin, Tillsonburg, O.N.; Travis (Joyce) McLaughlin, Gagetown, N.B.; Terry McLaughlin (John Swaine), Cow Bay, N.S. as well as, Sister-in-law Donna (Pierre) McLaughlin, Oromocto, N.B. and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Bernard Kuhn, sister Barbara Romkey, sisters-in-law Kay Kuhn and Doris Kuhn, parents-in-law Fred and Mabel McLaughlin, brother-in-law William McLaughlin and nephew Ken Reid. Resting at Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel with visiting hours Thursday June 29th, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Funeral to be held in the chapel on Friday, June 30th at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow in the Bideford United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Fred, to an Educational Trust Fund for Larry and Mason Reid, Atlantic Parkinson Foundation or Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre would be appreciated. www.fergusonsfh.com
