Doreen Jamieson (nee Rose)

Born: January 16th, 1949

Passed on: June 4th, 2017

Born in Salmon Cove, NL, Doe was raised on Bell Island and in Carbonear. She graduated from Memorial University Newfoundland (MUN) in Education and subsequently acquired a diploma in Special Ed from McGill, which proved invaluable in dealing with her husband over the next 41 years. She taught in Lewisporte NL and Victoria BC (that being Behind Carbonear). Doreen was commissioned in the Canadian Forces as an Air Weapons Controller (AWC) in 1973 which took her to such garden spots as North Bay, ON, 22 NORAD Region as IRRADIATE 55, Goose Bay NORAD Manual Control Centre and finally 21 Radar Sqn, Back-up Intercept Control Centre (BUIC), NB as BILLYBOY 11. At that NORAD BUIC she met and married Frank Jamieson of Winnipeg in 1976. That began a journey involving 11 military moves across North America ranging from Florida (Tyndall AFB), North Bay 2X, Ottawa 2X, Winnipeg 2X, Toronto, Oklahoma City (Tinker AFB) and Colorado Springs 2X , totalling 17 years in the USA. She is survived by her husband, Frank, of Campbell River, BC, eldest daughter Patricia Quin Halpin (John) and their two sons Graham and William of Tulsa OK, youngest daughter Kelly Davina Evans (Joel) of Vancouver BC. A gentle soul, she truly cherished her "two girls" and 2 Okie grandsons. Struck with Lupus in 1997, it eventually deteriorated into COPD in 2007. Doe was in awe of the view everyday from our Campbell River deck overlooking the Salish Sea and Quadra Island, both in the sun and occasional BC fog/gales. Despite all her excruciating ailments, the Newf never complained a day. There will be no service per orders of the Lieutenant. If so desired, donations can be made to Lupus Canada.
