Marie Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Nelligan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Nelligan, age 69, on Saturday July 1, 2017 after a brief illness.
Born in Dalhousie, New Brunswick, March 6, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Eric and Pascaline (Poirier) Duguay. She was employed for a number of years as a sewing machine operator and later as a personal care worker at a Nursing Home in Hamilton, Ontario. She married her husband Wayne in 1987 and after their retirements they moved to North Sydney in 2013. Jacqueline enjoyed going to bingo games and was an accomplished long arm quilter and longtime member of the Stoney Creek Guild, of Stoney Creek, Ontario and also loved to crochet.
Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Wayne Nelligan; cousins, Lynn (‘Wayne’) Leonard, Tammy Leonard, Jack and Rachel Hutchison, Shane (Amy) Leonard and Adelaide ‘Addie’ Leonard, and by her furry friend, Cinnamon.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors and staff of Palliative Care, VON, Dr. John Kirkpatrick and staff of Shoppers Drug Mart in North Sydney for caring for Jackie during her illness.
By request there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
