It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Kevin Thomas MacPherson, age 62, loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle on Sunday, July 2, 2017 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Born in Sydney Mines on March 29, 1955, Kevin was the son of Sarah ‘Sadie’ (Penny) MacPherson, Sydney Mines and the late David Ambrose MacPherson. He was self-employed and operated an Industrial Construction Company in Alberta, until his retirement. Kevin enjoyed antique muscle cars especially Corvettes, he loved to play golf and was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan. Kevin enjoyed travelling, his dog Miss Boo and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Besides his mother, Sadie MacPherson, Kevin is survived by his wife, Dianne (Rice) MacPherson; his two sons, John (Katy) and Adam; his daughter, Nicole; step-daughter, Angela Williams (Steve); his three brothers, David (Bonita), Sheldon (Helene) and Michael (Thelma); his sister, Ann Marie (Bob) Brown; a number of nieces and nephews; his uncle, Ambrose ‘Bud’ (Nellie) Penny, and his aunt, Marg Andrews.
He was predeceased by his father, David; his first wife, Jeanne (Morrison) MacPherson; an infant brother, David; an infant sister, Mary, and a number of aunts and uncles.
Visitation for Kevin will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of Canada.
