The death occurred peacefully at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, Charlottetown, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, July 2, 2017, of Alyre Gallant, husband of Debbie Gallant, formerly of Rustico, aged 70. On this day, he gained his angel wings, and joined his daughter Jennifer in Heaven. Alyre was the beloved father of Jennifer Lidstone (deceased) (Douglas), and Susan (Mark Willoughby); and very special Papa of CJ and Shyla Gallant, and Kristen and Miranda Lidstone. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph O. (Linda); sisters, Marion Gauthier, Rita Younker (Ralph), and Dorothy; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Gaylene, Wanda and Heather; and brother-in-law, Bobby Kelly, Barry (Marie), David (Judy), Wade (Janet), Lorne, Sandy and Glenn (Shanna). Besides his daughter, Jennifer, Alyre was predeceased by his parents, Emile and Ida (Gauthier) Gallant, his parents-in-law, Albert and Emma (Doucette) Doiron; his brothers, Vernon, Arthur, Lawrence and Levi; and sister, Rose Marie. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico, on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. If so desired, donations in Alyre’s memory to the Cecil Gallant Fund, with cheques payable to Cecil Gallant, would be appreciated.
