It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Michael Brown, age 59, on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Northside General Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Wayne was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario on August 14, 1957, Wayne was the son of Joseph Brown and the late Jacqueline (Allister) Brown. Wayne enjoyed the simple things of life, he took great pride in his work, keeping his yard in tip top shape and his truck looking like the day he bought it. He enjoyed fishing, trips to Tarbot and a bike ride with his brothers. Wayne worked many years with the Canadian Coast Guard and then in 2001 went on to work with Marine Atlantic as ship quartermaster which he took great pride in. His final tour of duty was aboard the Blue Puttees.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Darlene (MacDonald) Brown; his father, Joseph Brown (Sharon); his brothers, Leo Brown (Lucy), Jeff (Kim) Brown and Greg (Michelle) Brown, and his sisters, Linda Brown (Shane), Carol (Glenn) Brown MacKinnon and Janice Brown. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Muriel MacDonald; sisters-in-law, Laura Jabalee and Cheryl MacDonald (Lawrence); brothers-in-law, Jamie (Melissa) MacDonald, Brian (Valerie) MacDonald and George Jabalee; his aunt, Shirley (Dave) Yetter, and uncle, Malcolm (Cathy) Brown. Wayne was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides his mother, Jacqueline Brown, Wayne was predeceased by his brother, Darren; his paternal grandparents, Leo and Elizabeth Brown; his step-grandmother, Ruby Brown, and his maternal grandparents, Jack and Katherine (Burke) Allister, and father-in-law, Gordon MacDonald.
Visitation for Wayne will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA or a charity of choice.
