Gordon ‘Gordie’ Power

It is with deepest sadness that we, the family of Gordon (Gordie) Power, 85, announce his passing on July 9, 2017, at the AnCala Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Sydney, Gordie was the son of Oscar and Irene (Dunbar) Power.
He had numerous jobs during his lifetime, the last of which was at Victoria Park in Sydney.
Following his retirement he could be found most mornings at McDonald’s having coffee with his friends, most notably Tom Head.
Gordon is survived by the love of his life Mary, to whom he was married 61 years, as well as his son, Jim (Mary), Alberta, and his daughter, Carol (Harry), Sydney. He is also survived by grandchildren, Elaine (Ian), Carla, Holly, Lisa and Kenny; step-grandchildren, Matthew (Paula) and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Josh; step-great-grandchildren, Kevin, Daniel and Ella Marie, and great-great-grandson, Gordon Power. Also left to mourn are his brother, Jim, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gordie is predeceased by his brothers, Ernest, Victor and Norman, as well as his sister, Barbara.
Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home located at 564 Alexandra St. in Sydney, with Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AnCala Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
