It is with broken hearts the family wish to announce that their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Theresa Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully on July 9, 2017 with her loving family by her side.
Born in New Waterford on December 23, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Freddie and Amelia (Boutilier) MacKenzie. Theresa had lived for many years on St. Joseph St. and then on Roaches Road, Lingan.
Over the years Theresa had worked in several businesses in town. She worked as an outpatient clerk at the New Waterford Hospital for twenty-five years and retired in 1994. She was very talented with any type of craft, her hands were always busy making something. As well, Theresa was a good baker and many, many people can attest to this, especially her tea biscuits. She was a kind person and shared her talents with others. She also enjoyed playing cards, the casino and traveling.
Theresa is survived by her daughter, Ann (Dempsey) Woodland; grand-daughter, Ainslie (Bernie) Rankin, and grandson, Wendell (Angela); sister, Charlotte (Neil) MacKenzie, and brother, Freddie (Sharon); great-grandchildren, Callie and Claire Rankin; special nieces, Darlene (Mike) and Laurie (Jacques), and family.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, John; brother, Joseph; sisters, Hilda (Bernie) Gillis, Evie (Carl) Campbell and Nellie (Colin) Gillis; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rankin in infancy, and niece, Kathy (MacKenzie) McDonald.
By request, there will be no visitation and a Funeral Mass to celebrate Theresa’s life will take place Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Ave. with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery and a luncheon in the parish hall, Convent Street. All are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Seaview Manor for their compassion and excellent care they gave to Theresa.
