Colin Francis Michael Ormond (CFMO) passed away on July 16th, 2017, at the Halifax Infirmary after a long battle with cancer. Born July 29th, 1944 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Colin is survived by his children Peter and Peggy, granddaughters Amelia and Gabrielle (Peggy), former wife Kathy Smits, brothers Jim and John David, sisters Elizabeth, Twinkle and Louise, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews, and his special companion, his dog Rufus. He is predeceased by his parents Margaret and William Ormond. Colin had an undying love of music, the written word, hockey (especially the Montreal Canadiens), movies and people in general, and never lost his sense of generosity towards people who needed it the most. Colin was very proud of his time with the Amherst Ramblers and greatly appreciated the connections he formed while working with the Ramblers. To the very end, Colin never gave up on life and the mystery and humour it presents. To quote Colin: Life is like a rose; there are lots of petals but also a few pricks.
True to form, Colin did not wish to have a funeral. Peter and Peggy will be honouring their father’s wishes, and a celebration of Colin’s life will be held instead.
