ANNE KASHEWKA
1928 - 2017
Anne Kashewka (nee Kosik), our beloved mom, “Baba” and great-grandmother passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Anne is survived by three daughters: Carol (Dave) Myrglod of Prince Albert, SK and grandchildren, Lindsay (Max), Shelby (his recently deceased wife, Katrina), Landon, Trysta, Zachary, Dominey, and great-grandchildren, Madison, Jacob, Liam, Benson and Zayden; Donna (Dave) Hoy of Nanaimo, BC and grandchildren, (Lonny (Shawna), Russell (Nicole), Keith (Chantel), and great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Layne and Dylan; and Teresa Luebke of Christopher Lake, SK and grandchildren, Alyssa and RJ David; her sisters, Josephine Stratychuk, Polly Jaman and Emily Mardell; and her brother, John Kosik; as well as many nieces and nephews. Anne is now at peace with her husband Peter (Petro); her parents, Steve and Mary; her brothers, Pete and Frank; and her sisters, Helen and Sophie. Anne grew up on a farm near Claytonville (north of Prince Albert), attending a small schoolhouse and helping out on the farm as she grew up. She used to speak fondly about her younger days on the farm, the fun they had and the lessons she learned, memories that she held dear her whole life. When she and Pete married they settled in Prince Albert in 1955, where they built their home together and raised their family. Anne worked at the Old Family Hospital and later at Eaton’s, both at the old and new store, until she retired. She was very proud of her heritage and extremely active inside the Polish community for many years, including the Prince Albert Polish Association and the Polish Church. She loved her garden, and in the summer you could often find her working away in it. “Baba” was the heartbeat of our family, and for so many years she took great care of us all. She always gave beyond her means, and her home was always a place filled with light and love and children. Her family meant everything to her and she was unwaveringly proud of everyone. There was never a birthday or anniversary that she missed. She was an amazing cook, and even strangers would be hard pressed to leave her home without a full belly. She loved to laugh, loved a good joke, loved listening to music, and loved being part of social gatherings. She truly lived her life right to the end with joy in her heart. Anne’s faith was like a rock, unbreakable. She often said that she lived a good life and was ready for the next journey whenever it came. She is now at home with her heavenly father. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at River Park Memorial Chapel, 301 River Street West. A funeral mass to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 160 12th Street East. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Last Supper, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the caregivers for their help with Mom in her final years here in Prince Albert at Ika’a and in Leask and Shellbrook. Memorial donations can be made in Anne’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan, #301 – 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home in Prince Albert, SK, 306-764-2727, Paula Hanson, Funeral Director.
