Walter Thomas ‘Wally’ Young

Walter ‘Wally’ Young, age 90, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Walter Thomas and Rose (Kelley) Young.
Wally was employed at the Heavy Water Plant, Glace Bay and later as a construction worker for several years. He will be remembered as a quiet man who loved playing the guitar or listening to a good joke.
He is survived by his wife, Florence (MacDonald) Young; two sisters, Connie (Late Joe) Fraser, Hamilton and Betty (Danny) Chiasson, Brantford, Ontario; one brother, Gerald (Late Bridget) Young, Kitchener, Ontario, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Wally was predeceased by several siblings.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Anthony O’Connor, is Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
