Joan Alice Billard

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Joan Alice Billard, 84, of Whitney Pier, announce her passing on Friday, July 21, 2017, at home.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Bonnell) Hillier.
Joan was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Club 55, and the Red Hatters.
Joan is survived by her children, Lloyd (Linda), Mira, Raymond (Elizabeth), North Sydney, Janet (Bob), Ontario, Ronald, Mira, Richard, Sydney and Barbara (Jamie), Ontario; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, George Hillier, and her sister-in-law, Clara Hillier.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Foster; brother, Calvin, and a great-grandson.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m., in St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Whitney Pier, with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
