MacLellan’s Brook - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dorothy Mildred Johnston of Brookville Road, MacLellan’s Brook, on July 27, 2017.
Our mother was born February 28, 1948 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, a daughter of the late Donald and Mildred MacDonald of Egerton, Nova Scotia.
Dorothy was greatly loved by her sons and their families: Matthew Johnston (Lynne Chapman), and their daughter Matilyn, Edmonton, Alberta; Mark Johnston (Denise), their daughter Haley, and son Ty, Milton, Ontario; Neil Johnston and his sons Joseph and Ryker, MacLellan’s Brook, Nova Scotia.
Our Mother will be sadly missed by family and friends of which there are many.
Dorothy was predeceased by a brother in infancy, her brother Melvin MacDonald, and sister-in-law Jessie.
She is survived by her siblings: Donald MacDonald (Ella), Edie Gillis (Donnie), Laurie Kolstee (Gary), Alan MacDonald (Gloria), Philip MacDonald (Barb), Bryan MacDonald (Melody) and Vincent MacDonald.
Our mother truly enjoyed visits from family, friends, and wonderful neighbors in MacLellan’s Brook and we would like to thank you all for showing her how much you loved and cared for her.
Visitation will be 7-9 pm Monday, July 31at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, for those who wish to give last respects. The funeral will be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, MacLellan’s Mountain on Tuesday, August 1, at 2pm, Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Graveside service to follow at Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellan’s Brook.
Donations can be made to the Aberdeen Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit or a charity of your choice.
