Donald Albert Boudreau, 84, of Fall River and formerly of Lower L’Ardoise, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in St. Peter’s, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Leo and Rebecca (MacLean) Boudreau. With the passing of his parents at an early age Donnie move to Gracieville, where he was lovingly raised by Joe and Florence Gracie. In early years, Donnie worked in a clerical position at the L’Ardoise Co-op and L’Ardoise Credit Union. He was also employed as an office clerk with the Gulf Oil Refinery, Point Tupper for nearly 18 years.
A gentle and dedicated individual, he was a devoted husband and father. Donnie enjoyed the company of friends, good laughter and up for a challenge with a game of crib. He was also a diehard Montreal Canadiens fan.
He is survived by his soulmate, love of his life and wife of 56 years, Phoebe (Kinslow); sons, Donald (Holly), Kentville, David (Michelle), Newmarket, Ont.; daughters, Lorraine (Conrad) LeLievre, New Minas, Debbie (Frank) Parsons, Windsor Junction. Special to his life were his 10 grandchildren, Joel, Shannon, Brad, Jennifer, Breanne, Melissa, Donald III, Logan, Cain and Kinlagh; also a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy, Gerald, Frankie, Ivan and a sister, Kathleen Boudreau.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will take place Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Holy Guardian Angels Church, L’Ardoise at 11 a.m., Fr. Lourdusamy Mariadoss officiating. Burial of ashes in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the community centre.
No flowers by request. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
