Donna Lee Parsons

PARSONS, Donna Lee – 66, Valley, completed her journey with grace and dignity, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Gander, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Violet (Jones) Parsons. Donna is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Martin; children, David (Elise) Parsons, Calgary, Alberta; Toni Parsons, Fredericton, New Brunswick; Mitchell Parsons, Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren, Gavin, Violet, Edwin, Logan, Chase, Tyson; brothers, Hedley (Elizabeth) Parsons, Gambo, Newfoundland; Kevin (Trudy) Parsons, Pasadena, Newfoundland; several nieces and nephews. Donna was a member of Valley United Church where she was active with the UCW and was also a life member of Kin Association. Family was most important to Donna and her grandchildren were her pride and joy; family times spent at the cottage in Cape John will be fondly remembered. Mrs. P’s teaching career took her to classrooms in Newfoundland, Lower Sackville and Fall River, from where she retired in 2011; Donna thoroughly enjoyed teaching and considered all her students to be “her kids”. In her spare time, she loved to sew, hand crafts and reading. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Donna’s family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2017, at Valley United Church, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Donna’s memory to Valley United Church or Children’s Wish Foundation are welcomed.
