TRENTON – Stella Marie Murray (Quirk), 83, Egypt Road, Trenton, passed away peacefully, Saturday August 5, 2017, surrounded by her family, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in East Roman Valley, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Chisholm) Quirk. Stella enjoyed gardening, playing Auction 45’s, and especially spending time with her ten grandchildren. She was a stay at home mom until the early 80’s, when she worked in the housekeeping department at Riverview Home from where she retired.
Surviving are daughters, Margie (Mel) Gratto; Marie (Ross) MacDonald, both of Trenton; sons, Tom (Debbie), Bridgewater; Willy (Marilyn), Trenton; John (Tabitha), Egypt Road; grandchildren, Natalie (Nick), Lee (Laura) and their mother Velma Murray; James, Carly (Sohrab), Ashley, Melanie (Jonah), Angus (Hillary), Ian (Leslie); Mitchell (Samantha), Morgan and their mother Marilyn Adams, brother- in-law Bruce Anderson; special niece, Anna Bowles.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; sisters, Mary Chisholm, Annie Hanrahan, Beatrice DeWolfe, Margaret DeWolfe, Josie Campbell, a sister in infancy; brothers, John and Leo Quirk.
The family will receive visitors 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery Trenton. Donations in Stella’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment or the Pictou County SPCA. www.pkmacdonald.ca
