Sandra Strang, 70 years of age, of Amherst Shore, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 4, 2017. Born in Maccan, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey & Areatha (Elliott) Hoeg.
After graduating high school, Sandra worked for a short while at Hicks and Lemoine in Amherst before starting a 32 year career as a secretary with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture in Nappan. She fondly remembered working with local farmers, 4-H clubs and her beloved co-workers.
Sandra was unconditionally devoted to her loving family and friends. At times though, it was difficult for them to catch her sitting still as she was always on the go doing laundry, cleaning or on the phone with a family member or friend.
Sandra also loved travelling with Roger, bowling, reading and playing cards with family at the cottage.
Sandra will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, Roger, daughters; Patti Milner (Heath) of Fenwick, Keri Strang of Riverview, Tammy Bickerton (Peter) of Amherst, son, Michael (Tracey) of Cole Harbour; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lucas, McKayla, Kelsey, Matthew, Melissa, Emma, Justin, Allison, Tyler; great grandson, Kayden; sisters, Susan Hoeg of Amherst, Cathy Collins of Maccan; brother, Earl Hoeg of Amherst, Eric Hoeg (Deborah) of Richmond, ON, Bob Hoeg (Heather) of River Hebert, Ron Hoeg (Betty Anne) of River Hebert; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother in law, Carson Collins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777) where cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at Furlong-Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 6 -8 p.m. Burial to take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date.
