McNUTT, Jessie Joanne – 89, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017, at The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Broad Cove, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Mary (MacPherson) Abriel. Jessie worked for Stanfield’s Ltd., Truro for 31 years and she loved to travel to dances and loved to dance. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Truro. Jessie is survived by her daughter, Cherie Abriel (Peter Keaveney), Salmon River; grandchildren, Dennis, Conor, Eilish; step daughters, Lynn Chase, Joan Irving (Robert), Joyce McNutt (Curtis Cadell), Debbie McNutt; several step grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, St. Clair McNutt; sister, Ellen Merlin. Jessie’s family would like to express special thanks to the entire staff of The Mira for the exceptional compassion and care shown and given to Jessie while she resided there. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Jessie’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, Thursday, August 10, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, Father James O’Connor officiating. Reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Jessie’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society are welcomed.
