Claire’s life journey ended peacefully, with family by her side, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Saturday, August 12, 2017, beloved wife of Grant Smith, of Hunter River, aged 73. Claire was the devoted mother of Kevin (Debra) Smith; and proud and dedicated grandmother of Jessica and Tyler Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Tommy (Joan) Blackett; brothers-in-law, Elmer (Joan) Smith, David (Diane) Smith, Clark (Dottie) Smith and Neville (Helen) Smith; sister-in-law, Marjorie Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Claire was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Lila Blackett; parents-in-law, Cyril and Marge Smith; sister-in-law, Eleanor Meredith; and brother-in-law, Wendell Smith. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held at Central Queen’s Funeral Home Chapel, on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. Due to extreme allergies, please refrain from wearing scents to the wake and funeral. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley.
