Stellarton - Mary Rita “Mae” Marcott, of Stellarton, formerly of St. Theresa Street, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in Trenton in 1931, Mae was a daughter of the late Angus and Genetta (Lucas) MacNeil.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Joan Marie Harris, Charlottetown; David (Nancy), New Glasgow; Toni (Wayne) Pelerine, New Glasgow; Paul (Angie), Debert; daughter-in-law, Nancy, Bridgewater; her 10 grandchildren: Michelle, Victoria, Erica, Steven, Rob, Joey, Andrea, Bradley, Daniel and Molly; 5 great grandchildren; brothers: James (Margie); Lawrence “Babs” (Carol); Daniel “Butch” (Verna).
She was predeceased by her husband Henry; son, Sandy and infant son John; as well as sister and best friend, Anna MacMillan; sister, Jean Martin and brother, Alec.
Mae was an avid reader, she loved a good mystery; her other hobby was jigsaw puzzles and she completed too many count.
Mae wanted to convey special thanks to neighbor, Lois Peartree, for her service over the last 15 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Aunt. She was loved and will be sorely missed.
No visitation by request. Funeral Mass, under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, will take place on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2pm, at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Donations in Mae’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
