With family members and special friends by his side, Father Gallant died peacefully on August 15, 2017 at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside at the age of 98 years. Father Gallant was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest on June 30, 1946. He served many parishes in his years of religious life. He retired in 1989 but still remained active in his ministry. Father Gallant was the son of the late Mathurin and Evangeline (nee Arsenault) Gallant. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephew and their families. Predeceased by his parents, his sister Anne-Marie, his brother Louis and his sister-in-law Florina, his niece Simone and niece-in-law Gaetane, his nephews-in-law Wendell and Charlie and his great nephew Craig. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville until Saturday August 19, then to the St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the church cemetery Egmont Bay. Flowers respectfully declined. Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday August 19 from 9 a.m. until time of mass at St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay. Memorial donations may be made to the Priest Benevolent Fund or to the Wellington Fire Department.
