DUNCAN, Rose Madeline – age 78, Yarmouth, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at home. Born March 7, 1939 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late John Frank and Ada (Atkinson) Deveau. Rose worked at Cosmos Imperial Mills/Dominion Textiles, as well as being a bartender at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 61, Yarmouth, of which she was a devoted member and Past President of the Auxiliary. When she wasn’t busy with the Legion, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She is survived by her children, Kim (Randy) Mahoney, Leslie (Jeanette) Duncan and Marla (Mike) Surette, as well as by grandchildren, Cory, Kristy, Chantell, Steven, Ian and Alex; great grandchildren, Sydney, Hayden, Liam, Allie, Caden, Kathryn, Blake, Scotia, Kiersten and Ryan. She is also survived by a brother, Stan Deveau, and sisters, Gloria LeBlanc, Marina Manser and Donna Makes, as well as many nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Leslie L. Duncan; brothers and sisters, Burton Deveau, Doral Tsohatsis, Veronica Goodwin, Freeman Deveau, Gladys Frost-MacIssac and Robert Deveau. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Royal Canadian Legion Service was held at 1:45 p.m., Saturday, August 19, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., both at H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. Interment followed in the Chebogue Cemetery. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Branch No. 61 of the Royal Canadian Legion or to the Salvation Army.
