It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Michael Burke at home on August 17, 2017.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Michael and Georgina (Seymour) Burke. He was employed with Devco until his retirement. Michael enjoyed watching Pikie and Laura Lee playing sports, going camping and he had a love of cars. He loved spending time with his precious granddaughter “Boo Boo”. Michael enjoyed being at any ball field and also watching his favorite team, the blue jays!
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sheila (O’Brien) Burke, his son, Pikie (Laura Lee) Burke, the light of his life, his granddaughter, Blake; sister, Linda Burke, sisters-in-law, Sharon and Emerance; father-in-law, Phon O’Brien and the extended O’Brien family. He is also survived by his special nephew, Troy O’Donnell, many nieces and nephews, near and far, as well as his grand fur babies, Duke and Taz. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Nelly in infancy, Carmella, Frankie and Kay; brothers, Rich and Eddie. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902) 849-4199.
A memorial service will take place Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. with Deacon Lorne MacNeil officiating in the funeral home chapel.
Burial to follow in St. Annes Church Cemetery.
