It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, dad, brother, nephew, godfather, uncle, cousin and friend, Cory Andrew Christmas. Cory passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2017 at the age of 32. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Jeanette Tuplin and Gary Christmas Sr. (Diane).
Cory was a fisherman for 16 years, fishing out of Glace Bay and Yarmouth. He was so proud of his accomplishment on receiving his Captain’s license in 2016. He loved being out on the boat, laughing and joking with his fishing buddies. Cory was a proud and dedicated father who loved his children Shaya and Tess. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, nieces and nephews. His favorite place was Ingonish or going on random adventures. He volunteered his time helping elders and youth in the community. He was known as a warrior, who was proud of his Mi’kmaq Heritage and Mi’kmaq rights. Cory was the founder and president of MB2 Fishery Union and a member of the MB2 Boxing Club. During his free time he liked playing PS4 and watching UFC. We will miss Cory’s huge smile and hearty laugh.
