The family of Austin (Sonny) Alexander “Sandy Laidlaw” Mussel of Alliston, P.E.I. are deeply saddened by his passing on August 28, 2017 at Dr. John M Gillis Memorial Lodge, Eldon. Age 78. Sonny was born in Walsingham, ON and predeceased by parents Joseph and Pearl Mussel. Loving husband of Carol Ann (White) for 57 years. Survived by his daughters Cathy (Morley) Friesen of Port Rowan, ON and Julie Mussel (Lincoln Doucette) of Charlottetown; grandchildren Keir (Amber) White, Kuri (Emily) White, Melissa (Nick) Penner, Carley Friesen, Joseph Doucette; and great-grandchildren Sadie and James. Surviuved by his family in Ontario: Belva Deeg, Joyce Granger, and brother Joseph (Sharon) Mussel and numerous nieces and nephews. Sonny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and farmer. He loved a good laugh. Many thanks to the staff at Gillis Lodge for caring for Sonny, especially the caregivers he referred to as “Sweethearts”. Resting at Southern Kings & Queens Funeral Home, Murray River where cremation will take place. No visitation or funeral service by personal request. Interment later in Brooklyn Cemetery.
