It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Eric on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 75th year with his family by his side.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Ada. Loving father of Kim (Mike) Simpson, Nelson (Laurie) Butts, all of St. Catharines and Jody Butts of Cambridge. Eric will also be missed by Ada’s daughter, Catherine Hamilton of Hawaii. Also left to comfort Ada is her son Chris (Zdenka) Newson. Cherished Papa of Nathan and his wife Krystle, Erika, Kaitlyn, Jeremy, Brandon and Jennifer. Dear brother of Eileen (Al) Tanner of St. Catharines and Isabel Burte of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
Predeceased by his first wife, Clara (1989); his mother and father; brothers, Ken (1991) and Gerald (2008). Eric was a long time member of West St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and a retiree of Hayes Dana. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his Life will be held at West St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 42 Pelham Rd., on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. A private family interment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill.
In lieu of flowers, donations to West St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 42 Pelham Rd., St. Catharines, ON L2S 1R4 or the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
