Passed peacefully away on April 14, 2011, Dorothy Halleran, age 89. Predeceased by parents Peter Halleran and Nellie (Atwill); brother Hubert Halleran and his wife Margaret (Carter); sister Geraldine Morris; nephew Richard Morris. Leaving to mourn brother-in-law Sidney Morris; nephews Robert Morris (Anne), Peter (Sally Ackerman), Philip (Susan); niece-in-law Susan Pye; as well as grand-nephews and grand-nieces Stephen, Tim, Thomas, Christopher, Michael, Shane, Anna and Nico Morris. Dorothy lived a full life with many close friends and colleagues. She was one of the first employees at the new College of Trades and Technology when it was opened in the 1960’s and she pioneered the early development of its Secretarial Science Program. College of the North Atlantic awards a scholarship in her name every year. In her active years, she was involved in a number of service organizations including the Canadian Association of University Women. To her nephews, she was simply Aunt Dot, a generous and loving woman who was always there for them. She will be missed. Cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will follow in the coming weeks.
