With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Genevieve Lee, on Monday, August 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Catherine MacDonald. Genevieve was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed baking, picking berries, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards, especially 45’s. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them and was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Karen Christoff and Nancy Lee, both of Glace Bay, Wendy Anita Lee (Glenn), Lori (Terry) White and son, John (Brenda), all of Kitchener, Ont.; grandchildren, Gwendolen Christoff, Craig Christoff, Ryan Lee, Marie Hallajha, Jamie Jackson, all of Ont. and Carole Ann (Brandon) Porter, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Ivy McNeil, Glace Bay, Jayla and Jaisa Williams both of Ont. and Lucas Porter, South Carolina. She will also be missed by her sister, Lorraine Abbott; sister in-law, Jean MacDonald, both of Glace Bay and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John Lee (2015); granddaughters, Sara and Kayla White and seven siblings.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J.McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
At this time we would like to convey our sincerest gratitude to the palliative care providers and the VON for their wonderful care and compassion.
