It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Nina Durnford. She passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, September 1st, 2017 at the age of 88 years. She will be sadly missed by her sons: John (Zella), Sam (Maggie) and Dave (Sherry); daughter Linda; sister Bessie; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Terry (Lori), Tony (Violet), Todd (Shelly), Nina, Corey, Leslie Ann, Johnny, Dougie, Peter, Celena, Thomas and Joseph; her cherished great-grandchildren: Natasha, TJ, Laura, Joseph, Evan and Raya. She also leaves to mourn son-in-law Dan Parsons and Audry, as well as a wide range of friends, especially Josephine and Nellie. Nina was predeceased by her husband John (1984), parents John and Laura Carroll from Deer Island, brothers Stanley, Henry and Wilson and her sister Matilda. She is now once again reunited with her beloved children: Stanley, Calvin, Don, Laura, Rebecca and Roland, and beautiful and loving friend Jim Brake. The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at the Western Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the Long Term Care 2nd Floor Staff, for all their beautiful and loving support and care throughout Nina's Journey. In keeping with Nina's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome to visit and celebrate Nina's life at Country Haven Funeral Chapel, 167 Country Road on Monday, September 4th from 7-9 pm., from where the Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
