It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our dear mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Anita McMaster on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Herbie and Rita (Francis) Dean. She always found humour in everything. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she will be truly missed by all who knew her. Anita is survived by her loving children, Shauna, Glace Bay, David (Leona), Edmonton, Margaret (Jim), Kamloops, Edna (Jeff), Calgary, John (Veronica), Sydney; 22 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Herbie (Lucy), Sydney, Allen (Kenny), Sydney, Gordon (Christina), Birch Grove, Lewis (Patsy), Glace Bay, Lloyd (Barb), Halifax, George (Mona), Dartmouth, Carly (Debbie),Glace Bay, Edna, Reserve, Leonard (Elaine), Broughton, Percy (Christina), Kitchener, Ont., Roy (Joscelyn), Glace Bay, Mohan (Donna), Halifax; sister-in-law, Mary, Halifax; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack McMaster; former spouse, David Penny; son-in-law; Kevin Kieley; brothers, Robert, Jim and John; sister-in-law and close friend, Cathy Dean; brother-in-law, Jack Martin. Visitation will be held Monday, September 4, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Ron Coole officiating at the T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS 902-849-4199. Reception to follow. Donations in Anita’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.
