Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing, at the age of 79, of our dear mother, sister, grandmother and great-mother, Marina Mary Ploughman (Billard) on August 24, 2017. Predeceased by her husband Edward (Ted) Ploughman; parents, Elizabeth and Ernest, brothers Edmund, Roy, Cecil and Eugene and beloved sisters Laura, Jennie and Pauline Billard and grandchild Ann Marie O'Keefe. Leaving to mourn while celebrating the breath of her life are her cherished children Mario, Kim, Basil (Kim), Doreen and Jackie Ploughman (Rodney); grandchildren Rosemarie Wadman, Ashley Northcott, Meghan and Matthew Saunders and Morgan Warren; great grand-children Courtney and Cassie Wadman and Tristan Northcott, as well as her sisters Shirley (Bill), Evelyn (Leonard) Eileen, Myra, Judy (Dorman), Jeannie and Helena; her brothers Leon (Linda) and Gordon. Also grieving her death while blessed by her are a large circle of friends including Mildred and Walter Biggins, Francis and Hollis White and Paulette and Brenda Gould. Marina was born March 18, 1938 in Port au Choix where she lived her life while raising a family, contributing to the business and church community and touching lives with her kindness and generosity. She loved to share her meals and baked goods with a wide circle of family, friends and with any stranger who showed up at her doorsteps. Marina and Ted spent a good many quality years sharing in the cabin community behind Hawke’s Bay, where many grateful family members and friends were welcome and fed at their cabin home. High Pond Country Inn was a gift to themselves and family members after working hard a life time to ensure their family was blessed. It was here, in a simple cabin in the woods, that the lives of Marina and Ted were graced with the greatest of earthly memories. The family received family and friends on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at St. Theresa’s church in Port au Choix, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, from where the funeral service took place on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at 11 am, with Father Rag officiating. The burial followed at the family plot of the Church cemetery in Sandy Cove, NL.
