“God gave me the incredible gift of eternal life, my wife, children and grandchildren, family and friends. They’ve all taught me many life lessons and the continued importance of family and unconditional love. I truly have lived a full and blessed life and am joining our Lord and Saviour at the “Great Wedding Feast.”
Dad had been given his wings and God has called him home. It is with great sadness but peace of heart, that the family of Raymond Morice Phinney, 81, of Sackville, NB, announces his passing at home with family by his side on September 2, 2017.
Born in Midgic, NB on November 30, 1935, Raymond was the son of the late Lawson and Daisy Belle (Estabrooks) Phinney.
He was a faithful member of Main Street Baptist Church and throughout his life served on the Finance Committee; as a Church Teller; enjoyed the fellowship of the Mens’ Brotherhood, picking up children to attend the Children Ministries Programs and his time as an Usher. Raymond and his wife Helen gave the first gift to start a chair lift fund for Main Street Baptist Church. Raymond enjoyed a 39+ year career from 1951 to 1991 with the Sackville Tribune Post as a colour offset pressman. Raymond cherished his family and was a devoted and kind-hearted husband, father and grandfather always putting the needs of other’s ahead of his own in everything he did. Raymond loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed his time bowling and the seniors card parties. He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Helen; Daughter, Darlene (Gaius) Dobson of Dorchester; three sons: Malcolm (Brenda) of Victoria Corner, NB ; Gregory of Sackville, NB and Jeffery of Moncton, NB; Grandchildren; Andrew, Jonathan and Christopher Dobson; Benjamin and Kayla Phinney; Jeremy and Olivia Phinney. He is also survived by his brother Keith Phinney and sisters-in-law, Arlene Phinney and Rita Phinney and 14 nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved sister and sister in Christ, Joyce, and brothers, Ivan and Marven Phinney.
Dad, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palms of His Hands, and we will hold you forever in our hearts.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will take place from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 1 pm from Main Street Baptist Church, Sackville, Pastor Andrew Swanson officiating. Following a reception, Raymond will be be buried in the Lower River Hebert Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Raymond may be made to Main Street Baptist Church Missions Program; Lower River Hebert Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice.
