Thomas C MacLean

MacLEAN, Thomas C. - 62, Glenholme, passed away suddenly on April 15, 2011, while vacationing in Cuba. For over thirty years, Tom worked in the advertising field, starting with the Truro Daily News, moving on to the Weekly Record and then spending the remainder of his career with Advocate Printing and Publishing, Pictou. There he wore several hats: salesman, publisher, and by times, bulldog. In 2010 he started on part-time basis with the Shoreline Journal. Throughout his career, Tom was known as being fiercely loyal to his customer. During this time, he was also active in ACNA during which he was president for two years. Tom’s easy smile and quick one-liners will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Over the years, Tom volunteered his time to Debert Minor Hockey, where he spent many hours encouraging the local kids, his son included, to enjoy the sport. He rarely missed a game of Little League or Soccer, if one of his children was involved. In more recent years, Tom was known for his “loud pipes” and could be found on any given sunny day cruising on his orange bike. Tom leaves behind his loving family, wife, Leslie (Aston); daughter, Megan (Bryan), Truro; son Ryan (Mallory), Calgary; daughter, Casey (Alex), Truro; cherished grandson, Hunter. Also left to mourn are his siblings, Richard MacLean (Leona), Truro; Harold MacLean (Glenda), Heather Crate (Dennis), Kelowna; Marcel Marcotte (Reta), Truro. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Ethel Marcotte; infant sister, Sonya. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at the Truro Fire Hall (Promenade Entrance at the back) on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 3pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting the “Guest Book” at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
